John Hosier has always had a great love for the sea. This probably began because of holidays in Cornwall, which he enjoyed from the age of eight, and forever gave him a love of swimming and surfing. At the age of eighteen, he 'went to sea' as he joined the Merchant Navy for three years. Having left the Navy and followed by a period of study at Spurgeons's College, he became a Pastor in several different churches. Also, he spent a few years teaching at Moorlands Bible College. Every time he moved, it was always to a venue near the sea. Retirement has been spent near the sea in Cape Town, South Africa, and then in Bournemouth and, more recently, in what is probably a final house move to Poole, where his study overlooks the harbour. At the time of writing his story, he has been married to Sue for fifty-five years, and their immediate family comprises two sons and seven grandchildren. In retirement, John has continued to preach, teach, write a blog, swim, and enjoy the beach.
