Baptisms continue to provide a significant mission opportunity for churches to engage with the wider community. However, the diversity of families and friends attending these services makes preaching at baptisms especially challenging.This wide-ranging survey, emerging from personal experience, includes reflection on baptism policy, preparation, choice of topics, the value of humour and stories, sermon preparation and delivery, the role of liturgy and visual aids, creative approaches, follow-up, and preaching at adult baptisms.
