A daring experiential guide that takes individuals and groups through a series of simple yet challenging deprivations in order to confront apathy and ignorance about pressing human needs. Daniel Day began this project by asking himself one question: "What if making a difference was as easy as starting a blog and walking into a business meeting without shoes?" That question led Day to choose eight "necessities" that Americans take for granted and begin going without each of them for ten days. He chronicles his experiences and challenges his readers to move from apathy to action while raising attention and funds for charitable organizations around the globe. The book not only encourages readers to gain personal awareness and to grow spiritually, but each segment gives readers practical ways to live out each experiment in their own community.
