Sixteen year old Alice-Ann is in love with Mack who is five years older than her. She tells him how she feels before he leaves for the war. They correspond regularly, but when that abruptly stops, Alice fears the worst. She fills her days attending to an injured friend. The friendship develops into a more serious relationship. When Alice receives a call from overseas, she must choose between waiting for her one true love or a possible future with her new friend.
