We are surrounded by an ideal of beauty as physical perfection, success as material prosperity, and human existence as competition. As a result, we fail to see ourselves as God sees us and so struggle to receive his grace. But as we encounter people with profound learning disabilities, we discover a new value in being human, and so a new way of being before God. This in turn opens up a fresh understanding of God’s love, and new peace as we rest in God’s grace.
